Cowpuncher Releases New Album

The boys of Cowpuncher have unleashed their third full-length album. Ghost Notes is more of what you’ve come to expect from the local band – a grit-and-grin collection of rootsy whisky rockers with just a lick of country swagger.

Ghost Notes was recorded over the course of several months in a variety of warehouse spaces, including an old machine shop in Inglewood, as well as the historic Masonic Hall in Nanton, Alta. The process was facilitated with a mobile recording studio captained by Josh Rob Gwilliam of Pilot Audio.

Fronted by singer-songwriter Matt Olah with Ryan Kelly and Scott Martin on guitar, Jeff Sulima on drums and Harley Hoeft on upright bass, Cowpuncher is well known around these parts for its spirited live shows. While the packaged version of Ghost Notes is new, some of the numbers, such as the album’s lead-off track “Raised On Rock ‘N Roll” will be recognizable as live-show setlist mainstays.

Ghost Notes is available locally at Sloth Records, Hot Wax Records, Heritage Posters and Music and The Inner Sleeve as well as via iTunes. The official Ghost Notes CD release show is Friday, Nov. 22 at the Palomino.
