Buying a new home is hard. But finding a home that matches your personal style can be a downright struggle. That’s where Nathan Nasseri’s ResVR home visualization software comes in.
ResVR provides new home builders with virtual versions of their layouts and floor plans, pre-build. Using precise graphics technology detailing everything right down to the style of railings or the type of oven being installed, prospective buyers can then “tour” the home virtually before the building process is underway.
“I just felt like I needed a better way,” says Nasseri, ResVR founder and CEO. “You’re either showing them a floor plan or you’re showing them the showhome.”
If buyers don’t see what they’re looking for when viewing floor plans, they typically move on to another builder, explains Nasseri. Leveraging his experience in home building as well as video game design, Nasseri decided to make it possible to add customizations and upgrades inside of the virtual tour too.
“The idea is that we’re taking the idea of character customization [from video games],” says Nasseri. “You customize the character based on how you want to resonate and engage with the game, except it’s for houses.”
ResVR recently announced an oversubscribed seed round of $1.7 million in funding from various investors (among them a number of video game investors) and Nasseri was among one of six winners at the prestigious 2024 Inventures Technology Conference pitch competition, taking home a $10,000 prize. He’s also completed nearly every technology catalyzer in Alberta, including Alberta Catalyzer, 500 Global, Plug and Play and Creative Destruction Lab.
The software, which has been available to a limited number of companies, officially launches this month. Nasseri plans to expand ResVR to include customization for home exteriors and condo buildings in the future.
