What Summer in Calgary Looked Like This Year

With the season winding down, we’ve assembled a #throwback to some of the highlights of summer 2017 in Calgary.

It’s been a summer for the books. No, seriously, the temperatures are on track to be the hottest summer in recorded history according to Environment Canada.

But the summer of 2017 has been noteworthy for other reasons, too.

Calgarians celebrated Canada’s 150th all across the city, felt the effects of the fires in B.C. wildfires, stared at the sky for an eclipse and for a Canadian-themed Globalfest – amongst other things.

Here are some of the most Instagram-mable memories for Calgarians so far this summer.

We posed with a giant travelling red ball for Canada Day

We caught the new On-It $10 shuttle for a Banff day-trip

We feasted on delightful and weird food at Calgary Stampede

We embraced plays in the great outdoors with Shakespeare by the Bow

We entered a world of witchcraft and wizardry (if just for a day) at the Kensington Diagon Alley

We devoured a lot of charcoal ice-cream from Lukes Drug Mart

We used the smoke from the B.C. fires to take, actually, very neat photos

We floated the Bow River in a desperate attempt to cool down

We stared at the sky to catch the total solar eclipse (safely, of course)
