HBC at Hudson: Past, Present, and Future
Hudson’s Bay Company has maintained its presence on Stephen Avenue since the 1890s. Although the store is now closed, its role in Canadian cultural history remains significant. In partnership with the Calgary Downtown Association, Heritage Calgary is hosting an information session on March 26 exploring the building’s past, present and future. The event features a panel discussion, followed by a Q&A and informal networking. Light refreshments will be provided.

Mapping History: The Calgary Atlas Project
This spring, Lougheed House is collaborating with the Calgary Institute for the Humanities on a series of events exploring the city’s history through the Calgary Atlas Project. This new exhibit features maps created by local historians and artists. It’s accompanied by original art pieces, artifacts, tours, workshops and talks running from April 2 to May 17. Topics include queer history, local architecture in 40 buildings, the literary geography of 1920s Calgary and more. The exhibit launches on April 2 with an opening party where you can grab a drink, pick up a copy of any of the maps from the gift shop and see the city in a new way.
