What do you get when you combine an award-winning interior designer with a well-stamped passport and an iconic Canadian furniture brand? An exclusive and highly covetable collection of 17 travel-inspired furniture and decor pieces that you will most certainly want for your home.
Calgary-based designer Aly Velji — owner of Aly Velji Designs, well-known TV expert and no stranger to our readers here at Avenue — teamed up with Vancouver-based Urban Barn for the Wanderlust Collection, which debuted at the Interior Design Show in Toronto on January 19. The limited-edition collection features 17 pieces, from an irresistible boucle armchair and ottoman to a mango wood console table with ornate bobbin detailing, all drawing from global influences based on Velji’s travels, as well as traditional craftsmanship.
The pieces are meant to be approachable and versatile, fitting in with your existing interiors, whether they’re mid-century, modern, traditional or something else entirely. And while the 17 designs form a cohesive collection, each piece is designed to stand alone, too. After all, this is what Velji is known for: mixing furniture styles, playing with different patterns and textures and embracing the unexpected.
The Wanderlust Collection is available to shop online now; it launches in stores on February 17.
