Where it is

4794 Holland Creek Ridge Road, Windermere, B.C.

The design

This timber frame home is carefully designed with different wood accents, many of which have a unique history. The home’s beams come from the St. Maurice River in Quebec, where the wood was used in a flourishing lumber industry, and from a Heinz Ketchup factory in Leamington, Ontario. Wood accents in the basement and primary bedroom are reclaimed from factories in B.C., while the home’s wood ceilings came from New Zealand.

The dining room table, which comes with the home, is custom made from African padauk wood, while the chairs are made from eucalyptus. The three bedrooms, along with built-in bunk beds in the basement made with ornate millwork and a private sleeping area in the loft, mean the home can comfortably accommodate 16 guests spending the night.

What to love

The wood features throughout this home bring a sense of warmth and comfort. Inside, the open-concept great room combines a formal dining area and the cherrywood kitchen. Home chefs can whip up meals on the granite counters and high-end appliances. A second casual dining area and a large lounging area with massive windows complete the space.

The primary bedroom offers high vaulted ceilings, a private covered deck, a large walkthrough closet and a bright and relaxing spa-like ensuite. A loft area brings open views to the main living space and boasts a flex space and private sleeping area. Downstairs, a large family room with a built-in wet bar and a full walkout to the ground-level terrace completes the home.

This home is ready to accommodate 16 people comfortably, making it a great family home if you want to gather for the holidays or enjoy a mountain retreat. With parking for six cars and more than 27,000 square feet of land, there’s plenty to enjoy about this home’s privacy and comfort.
