The history

Every year, Calgary Stampede Lotteries offers the chance to win a Dream Home. The first Dream Home was built in 1958 in the community of Mayfair and was worth $35,000. The 2023 Dream Home, in comparison, was worth an estimated $1.26 million.

This 1999 lottery home was built by Homes by Avi, which has built Stampede Dream Homes for 26 years. While this home has been upgraded over the years, its style and charm remain the same as when it was first built.

What to love

A bright and open plan with upgrades and built-ins throughout has helped maintain the timeless charm of this home. Just off the entry sits the family room, which is perfectly outfitted with a wall of media built-ins flanking a two-way fireplace. It creates a cozy space to gather with friends and family, watch movies or relax around a fire.

Across the entry is the chef-worthy kitchen with striking dark granite counters offset by light maple cabinets. A built-in table and desk provide additional seating spaces or room for kids to do homework. The sunny dining room sits against a wall of windows and leads out to the deck and patio.

The primary bedroom enjoys its own fireplace with built-ins opening to a huge walk-through closet/dressing room. A spa-inspired ensuite with tile flooring, dual vanities, a deep jetted tub, an oversized shower with body sprays and a private water closet provide full relaxation.

Downstairs, there are additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and flex rooms/spaces to customize your needs. Outside, the fully fenced backyard with a deck, patio and landscaped yard is ideal for enjoying long summer days.

What to consider

This home is located on a corner lot within a quiet street and is just a short walk away from the local community centre. Other dining, shopping and recreational amenities are just a short drive away, making the home ideal for families, young couples or downsizers.
