Where it is
4116 Crestview Rd. S.E.
The location
In the late 19th century, Elbow Park was an area for homesteads until the City of Calgary annexed the area in 1907. The City began building the first few houses in 1909, but construction began in earnest the following year as Calgary entered a boom. Elbow Park became Calgary’s first suburb. Many of the houses in Elbow Park were designed by recognized architects with distinct styles, which continues to set Elbow Park apart from other older communities in Calgary.
What to love
This home blends modern and contemporary architecture. The outside of the home features dark wood, brick cladding and large windows for a modern appeal that’s warmed with natural materials. Stepping inside reveals an elegant, sophisticated design with striking black decor accented with warm, lighter wood tones. A large foyer leads to the kitchen, which has striking black countertops, backsplash and cabinetry that contrasts with walnut features. A butler pantry leads to a second prep space with an oversized second fridge and freezer.
A temperature-controlled wine cellar with room for 220 bottles connects to the outdoors, further opening up the space. The living room offers a cozy space for family gatherings, while the event room is designed with entertainment in mind. A marble-clad fireplace, built-in shelving, room for a grand piano and herringbone flooring add an elevated sense of luxury and calmness to the space.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom has two separate walk-in closets and an elegant ensuite boasting gold and white accents, a floating bath and a steam shower. The walk-up lower level acts as a family retreat and games space with a large fitness room showcasing a custom mural by Michelle Hoogveld, a Canadian artist. Outside, an oversized pool with a swim-up bar completes the home.
