The renovation
It’s hard to look at this Calgary castle and see it as anything else, but believe it or not, this home was once a humble bungalow. Construction on the property first began in 1946 when the home was built as a bungalow. Then in 1982, new construction began to turn it into the castle it is today, complete with its own lookout tower.
In 2018, the castle became home to a collective gallery, where artists and creators could rent one of the seven studio spaces inside. The gallery also featured drawing sessions with live music, spoken word poetry performances and an art installation. In 2022, the home was bought by the current owners, who turned the castle into a successful Airbnb.
