Where it is

827 19 Ave. S.W.

The design

European architect Thomas Debicki designed this one-of-a-kind home. The home spans nearly 4,000 square feet and has thoughtful design, modern elements and elegant details.

The home’s focal point is a stunning central courtyard. The space is flooded with abundant natural lighting from the floor-to-ceiling glass on the north and south sides. A central 17-foot-wide, all-glass pyramid roof further fills the courtyard with light. It was built by Edmonton’s Muttart Conservatory, which makes it the second-largest resident pyramid in Alberta. The pyramid roof also allows for an indoor, living ficus fig tree spanning 34 feet, which brings a natural touch into the home.

The top-floor loft is another statement floor with 360-degree windows and sliding glass doors leading to an outdoor patio and built-in bar.

What to love

When you’re not relaxing in the soothing courtyard or sunny loft, there are plenty of other spaces to enjoy. The expansive open-floor plan flows throughout the home with 13-foot ceilings that create a sense of elevation and connection. An extensive renovation added top-of-the-line finishes, including crystal glass white tiles and a 17-foot Statuario marble island. The kitchen also boasts a floor-to-ceiling wine storage area with room to display a striking collection of wine bottles.

Crossing an enchanting glass bridge leads to the spa-like primary retreat with an open layout. The built-in cabinetry, 36-foot gas fireplace and 10-foot-high closets provide plenty of room for storage and relaxation. The ensuite is just as calming with a deep soaker tub, glass-enclosed shower and dual vanity.

A side yard completes the home with pet-friendly, high-end artificial grass.

What to consider

This home blends innovative designs with inviting elements, which is ideal for families and couples. The Lower Mount Royal location also allows for easy access to amenities, shopping, scenic walks and downtown.
