1. Huevos Benedictinos at Ox and Angela

A Spanish take on a traditional dish, the eggs Benedict from Ox and Angela takes some liberties, using grilled sourdough and sliced Serrano ham. But it’s the blood orange in the hollandaise that takes this brunch standard to a different place. –Gwendolyn Richards

2. House-cured gravlax at Vendome Caf

A coating of dill cream cheese, droppings of capers and red onion all draped with a tangy hollandaise are the makings of a fine Benny at Vendome. But it’s the house-cured salmon gravlax, soft and lightly salty, that pulls it all together. -John Gilchrist

3. Wild Mushroom Benedict at Wurst

A German beer hall might not be the first place you’d think of for a well-executed Benny, but this plate, full of earthy mushrooms, creamed spinach and leeks, will have you convinced after a bite or two. -Dan Clapson
