Want to Support Calgary Businesses? Consider Buying a Gift Card for Later

Consider buying a gift card from a local restaurant, retail store or business that you can use later — it supports the business during a tough time and you have something to look forward to down the line.

Over the last few weeks, Calgary restaurants and stores have been steadily closing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many have pivoted to offer online shopping, takeout and/or delivery options, but if you’re looking for another way to help, consider buying a gift card that you can use down the line — it supports the business during a tough time and you have something to look forward to later.

While many local shops and restaurants offer gift cards through their own websites, you can also check out EatLater and Aid Local, two Calgary websites that have compiled a list of restaurants, retail stores and other businesses offering gift cards.

On EatLater, you’ll find more than 60 restaurants offering gift cards, including Bow Valley Ranche, Cardinale, Nights & Weekends, Koi and Donna Mac. And over at Aid Local, there is an expansive database with listings for restaurants, stores, pet shops, grocers, coffee shops and more. Peruse the lists and, if you’re able, buy a gift card or two for when this is all over.
