Do you love food? Is dining out about more than just a good meal to you, it’s about the whole theatrical experience? Do you love trying new flavours and ingredients? Do you like to brag to your friends that you had a special meal at one of Calgary’s hottest restaurants?
If the answer to any of those questions is yes, then YYC Food & Drink Experience (YYC EXP) is for you. From March 13 to 29, this culinary festival celebrates all that Calgary’s dining scene has to offer with prix-fixe menus at some of the city’s best restaurants and special culinary events.
YYC EXP consists of two types of experiences: the first aspect of the festival features multi-course, prix-fixe menus from more than 115 Calgary restaurants. Stop by any of the participating restaurants during the festival for a three-course lunch or brunch menu ($30 or $40), a three-course dinner ($40 and $50) and/or a gourmet tasting menu experience ($70 or $80). These menus are a great way to experience something different at an old favourite, or try out a new spot you’ve had your eye on for a great price. Participating restaurants include Foxtrot at Spruce Meadows, Kama, Shelter Cocktail Bar and more.
The second part of YYC EXP is the signature culinary events featuring chef and restaurant collaborations and special one-time dining experiences. This year, YYC EXP is hosting 10 of these special events, ranging from a collaboration dinner at River Café with Penny Crown and Teatro to a culinary showdown-style event between chef Leroy Borrega of The Wilde on 27 and chef J.P. Dublado of FinePrint. These one-time-only signature events sell out fast, so book early if you want to secure your spot.
