It’s a New Year, which means it’s time to revamp our beauty drawers. Here are a few favourites for the coming year.
Nars Final Cut Collection
I had to have this collection the second I saw it. I’m always a fan of the illuminators, and this one didn’t disappoint. Wear it to highlight either under your foundation or pressed over your base to create a beautiful shimmering pinky glow. The satin lip pencils (seen here in four limited-edition shades) are also a favourite. These lip colors glide on easily, leaving a creamy, intense finish. Finally the blush, which true to NARS is very well pigmented (a little goes a long way), creates a perfect fresh-flushed finish.
Available at Sephora.
Aura by Swarovski
These pendants are a lip-gloss compact in a necklace that includes Swarovski crystals. It reminds me of old-school lockets. I love the long rope it hangs on, making it perfect to dress these down with a pair of jeans and a blazer; or, they are the perfect touch to a little black dress. What more does a girl need? The lipgloss is made with micronized Swarovski crystals.
Available at Hudson’s Bay.
The packaging would almost be better than the product – if the product wasn’t so fabulous. I especially enjoy the weight of the compact and Burberry’s signature pattern that carries through from the packaging to being etched into the product. This highlighter is incredibly fine, so it glides onto the face flawlessly while creating super yet subtle sheen wherever it is applied.
$66 at Burberry.
Every woman needs a signature fragrance. While perfume is such a personal thing, this is definitely one to try. Angel is distinctive, a bold yet sensual womanly scent, that always evokes a comment or two. It has undertones of bergamot, vanilla, patchouli and chocolate.
$96 for 0.8 oz. Eau de Parfum at Sephora.
Prminerals Hello Bright Eyes Pencil
This is the magic wand of makeup. There are many of these types of eye brightening pencils on the market, but what I love about this one is the pink undertone, which instantly brightens the eye and rids redness. Try lining the inner water line of the eye or try smudging a touch into the inner eye area or just under the brow bone. This isn’t called “Hello Bright Eyes” for nothing.
Available at Shoppers Drug Mart.
I had never heard of a dry oil before this product and now I am addicted. It comes in a regular or shimmer formula and can be used on the face, body or hair. The shimmer is perfect for that winter getaway or an evening out. Apply to the face, shoulders or dcollat for a beautiful shimmery glow. Or, for a subtle sheen try adding a touch into your moisturizer. It has the moisturizing properties of an oil without the greasy oily feel.
$45 at Murale.
