There’s a new Calgary clothing line designed to bring comfort, colour and happiness to healthcare workers’ daily lives. Founder Chelsea Lumague started Lotus Heart Studio in 2020 as an apparel company focused on creating soft, comfy clothing with cute healthcare-themed designs. As a cardiology technologist herself, Lumague wanted to create an uplifting and encouraging brand for fellow healthcare workers.
The company’s name is inspired by how lotus flowers flourish, despite first growing out of murky waters. Lumague says it symbolizes triumph in the pandemic and getting through the hard times together.
Lotus Heart Studio’s goal is to offer maximum comfort during long shifts and while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). The line is made out of a blend of polyester and cotton material, keeping the apparel thin and light. The signature collection features t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and sweaters with a range of healthcare-themed designs, including anatomical hearts, sinus rhythm ECGs and geometric teddy bears for pediatric workers. There’s also a Days Off Collection in the same materials and styles, but the designs feature molecular symbols for caffeine and whiskey.
