Secret beauty weapons are those products that work so well you buy two at a time just to make sure you’re never without.

As someone possessing “fine hair,” one of the most essential products in my secret beauty weapon quiver is Fekkai Au Naturel Powder Clean Dry Shampoo.

Here’s the thing about “fine hair” – it really ain’t so fine. Left to its own devices, it gets limp and greasy just hours after a wash. If you wash it every day to deal with the grease factor, your hair gets dry and brittle, not to mention the small fortune on shampoo and conditioner that ends up down the drain.

Dry shampoo is the answer. It’s essentially a super-fine powder applied to the roots and massaged in to absorb the excess oils that weigh your hair down and make it look limp and lifeless. But not all dry shampoos are created equal. I’ve tried all manner of powders and sprays on my strands and Fekkai’s Au Naturel is by far the best I’ve found. Since I’ve started using it, I can go three or even four days without washing – even when I’m working out during those days.

Au Naturel’s formula includes natural ingredients like cotton fiber, rice and corn starches and it’s free of parabens, sulfates and fragrances. It doesn’t feel flaky or gritty and it disappears easliy after a good tousling, which is important unless you’re going for that powdered-wig-wearing-Victorian-aristocrat look.

Look for Au Naturel wherever Fekkai products are available. I personally pick mine up at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 815 17th Ave. S.W.
