The Upside is a new online luxury consignment boutique founded by Calgarian Lauryn Zhukrovsky. If you manage to get out of the house from time to time you’ll know that there are a lot of very well-dressed women in this town, with closets full of covet-worthy designer pieces. The Upside draws from these closets, allowing clients to consign gently used (and sometimes even new) luxury brand items. The inventory of designer clothing, bags and accessories is carefully curated (the team has its own authentification expert to weed out fakes) and items are priced to be approximately 60- to 70-per-cent less than what you’d pay in a traditional retail setting.
Savings aside, consignment shopping is a great option for anyone trying to live more sustainably. Purchasing gently-worn designer goods reduces the demand for disposable fast-fashion and lets you build a more impressive, more timeless wardrobe as well.
