In 2018, at least 70 new restaurants and 25 new stores opened in Calgary. Looking at those numbers, it’s not surprising that plenty more new openings are already being planned for 2019. Here’s a look at some of the restaurants and stores you can expect to see in 2019.
The Bike Shop
The Bike Shop currently has three locations in Calgary, but one of them is about to undergo a big change. In February, The Bike Shop’s south store is moving a few minutes away from its current location into a new 20,000-square-foot space in Kingsland. Check it out for all your cycling needs.

Canary
Looking to reduce your waste and impact on the environment? Check out Canary, a new refillery and zero waste shop, when it opens in Kensington this February. The shop will carry a wide range of package-free, zero waste products, including bamboo toothbrushes, shampoo bars, wool dryer balls and reusable produce bags. It’s also a refillery, which means you can fill containers that you’ve either brought with you or bought from Canary with soap, cleaning products, lotions and more. When you’re all out, you just come back to refill the container.
