To me, biking to work seems like such a great idea – in theory. I save money on gas, don’t have to worry about parking and most of all, get some exercise to start my day. But then I think about how uncomfortable it can be, how much stuff I tend to cart around and that my work clothes and biking don’t exactly mix.

Luckily, I’ve discovered The Brooklyn Cruiser, a commuter bike with a vintage style that offers modern comfort and eliminates these issues.

The bike’s leather saddle and grips, along with an upright riding position, provide comfort and the step-through design allows for easier on and off without having to swing my tight-skinny-jean clad legs up and over.

The rear carrier provides function and the cream tires and fun colour palette (blue, orange, white and black), make getting around a stylish breeze.

The Brooklyn Cruiser is making its Calgary debut at BikeBike starting this weekend. The 7-speed Willow (ladies) and Driggs (men’s) bikes will be available in-store and the 3-speed can be ordered. BikeBike will also offer cruiser rentals.

The 7-speed with wooden crate is $899 and the 3-speed with crate is $699.
