In 2018, Mariya Podeyko founded :AM Cleaning YYC, a Calgary-based residential and commercial cleaning company. While working in client homes and businesses, she became familiar with how different cleaning products performed and saw a need for a new solution.
“I wanted formulas that reflected the standards we uphold in our cleaning company: effective, thoughtful and pleasant to use in everyday spaces,” she says.
The hands-on experience led her to develop a plant-based cleaning line designed to deliver strong results while supporting a healthier indoor environment.
“Our formulas are shaped by real cleaning challenges, real surfaces and real expectations from clients,” says Podeyko.
The line includes eco-friendly cleaners made with plant-based ingredients such as coconut- and corn-derived soaps, emulsifiers and essential oils. The product range addresses a variety of household needs, from an oven scrub to glass cleaner. The company’s standout product is the All Purpose Cleaner — a 2022 Made in Alberta Awards Unique category runner-up and a customer favourite — that’s designed for everyday use across a wide range of surfaces.
Right now, the company is developing a dish soap. “I’m always excited by products that solve a specific cleaning problem beautifully and make maintenance feel easier and more elevated,” says Podeyko.
She hopes future additions to the line will continue to reflect the same philosophy.
