Karlee Wick started Babes & Beauty in June, 2020 because she knew firsthand the struggle of finding natural, locally made health and wellness products for her family. As the mom of two young children, Wick wanted to continue buying local for her family, but noticed she didn’t have the time or energy to search for herself, her children and her husband all in one shopping trip.
Using her background in sales and marketing, as well as experience working in the skincare and beauty industry, Wick quickly established a one-stop online shop for paraben- and phthalate-free goods all from Calgary, Cochrane and the surrounding area.
The shop’s selection includes apparel, beauty products, household essentials and more. Popular products include the thematic Babes & Beauty box that features different products each month, warm therapy bags that come in a variety of fun prints and eucalyptus shower steamers. Babes & Beauty also carries seasonal items in small batches and even offers Made Foods meals made with fresh local ingredients, juice cleanses and organic coffee. The family-run business — Wick’s husband and kids help out with product testing — ships Canada-wide and has now added locally sourced men’s grooming products.
