The Buy: Ashley Nadalin Designs Wood Necklaces
Local jewellery maker Ashley Bagg makes wooden statement necklaces by hand.

Local designer Ashley Bagg has taken carpentry to a new – and decidedly prettier – level with her handcrafted wooden statement necklaces. Not one to follow trends, she hits her basement studio to start cutting away at wood until her idea comes to fruition. Her Black and Tan necklace shown here ($75) adds a bit of drama to any outfit with the deep contrast of natural and stained woods, while the Ruffle Bib ($85) has a feminine twist of ribbon for tying. Bagg describes the intimidation factor customers first get when considering wearing a piece of wood as “fleeting” – as soon as they put it on, they get it.
