A New Era of Racing for the 2025 Servus Calgary Marathon

Learn what’s new at the 2025 Servus Calgary Marathon Race Weekend and how you can get involved in this city-wide event!

The Servus Calgary Marathon recently announced an exciting evolution for its 2025 race weekend. After celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024, the oldest marathon in Canada is shifting to a two-day event in response to explosive growth in participation and to deliver an even better race experience.

Run Calgary, the organizers behind this premier race, believe this expansion is not just adapting to meet demand but enhancing the race weekend into an entire week-long festival. Like many other premier races around the world, the Servus Calgary Marathon is following suit by switching to a two-day race weekend format.

In addition to six distances for every age and ability, there will be exciting pop-ups, community meet-ups, shake-out runs, the Runner’s Expo and much more to help you curate your very own race experience — it’s so much more than just a run.

What to expect

Race Week will run from Monday, May 19 to Sunday, May 25, and will be filled with opportunities to meet new running friends, learn from experts, try new tech and celebrate in ways you can typically only experience in big-city races. Here’s a look at the variety of events happening each day.

  • Monday: Prepare for the weekend and make your cheer signs at Cold Garden during the Crafty Monday’s event.
  • Tuesday: Shake out the nerves and go for a run with a local run crew.
  • Wednesday: Watch the inspiring documentary Go On, Be Brave at the Plaza Theatre. Plus, you’ll get to meet Andrea Peet, who’s featured in the film and on a mission to be the first person with ALS to complete a marathon in all 50 states.
  • Thursday: Meet some fellow runners at the First Timers Dinner and attend RunTalk with Olympian Trevor Hofbauer.
  • Friday: Browse through various vendors at the Runner’s Expo. Get ready for your big weekend run at the Pace Party and the Shake Out Run, hosted by Olympian, Filmmaker and Author, Alexi Pappas.
  • Saturday: The 10 km, 5 km, Kids Race and Diaper Dash will take place. Stick around for the Post-Race Festival and Yoga in Enmax Park. Day two of the Runner’s Expo will continue.
  • Sunday: It’s the big day for the 42.2 km and 21.1 km runners. Plus, there’s another Kids Race, Post-Race Festival and, of course, an unforgettable After After Party!

Get involved

A week-long event means you can get involved during multiple days. Participants are encouraged to race, volunteer and cheer, or participate in a combination of all three!

For the racers, there are six distances available, and you can run, walk or use an adaptive device; there’s something for everyone! Races wouldn’t be possible without the incredible volunteer crew of over 1,500 individuals, and the Servus Calgary Marathon is always looking for more to get involved. Volunteer registration is now open.

If you’re not a runner or walker, it’s always a fun time standing on the sidelines to cheer on participants as they chase down their goals. For business owners, the Servus Calgary Marathon has exciting plans in the works, so stay tuned for how local businesses on and off the race route can get involved and connect with runners.

The Servus Calgary Marathon has been a beacon of community spirit for 60 years, and these exciting changes will ensure it continues to thrive for decades to come.

Let’s keep running, Calgary — together!
