Dads are the best. And at least one day a year, we get a chance to show them that. This year, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19th, and the Calgary Zoo has a fabulous Father’s Day Brunch to help you celebrate the occasion. Below are a few delicious details and other amazing reasons the zoo is the best way to spend dad’s special day!
1. Father’s Day Brunch
Treat dad to the brunch of all brunches. Eggs benedict with Canadian bacon, a Belgian waffle bar, a free-flowing chocolate fountain with fresh fruit – it’s all here and it’s all sooo delicious. The meal is sure to put a smile on dad’s face, and there’s even a craft table where little ones can make a special gift for him.
2. Lions and Tigers and Bears
After you finish filling up on brunch, mosey around the grounds and visit all your favourite animals. Whether dad loves the tigers, gorillas, bears or butterflies, they’re all here and they’re all incredible. Seriously, where else can you see wildlife from Canada, Africa and Eurasia in a single afternoon?
3. Burn Off That Brunch…
Not only is the zoo a place to get outdoors and enjoy nature, it’s also a great workout. There’s a lot of ground to cover, and what better way to burn a few calories than visiting a few different “continents” or exploring endless acres of botanical gardens?
4. Daily Keeper Talks
When you’re ready for a rest or need somewhere to sit down, the zoo has all kinds of free daily programs for you to enjoy. Take in a tiger training, catch a carnivore feeding or watch your child’s face light up when they meet their favourite animal at Creature Feature.
5. Ice Cream
If we know dad like we think we do, he loves ice cream just as much as the kids do. There’s no better way to beat the afternoon heat than with a tasty soft-serve ice cream cone. Find a park bench and watch colourful peacocks roam while you enjoy your treat.
6. Dinos Alive
They’re back. Encounter roaring, moving life-sized animatronic dinos around every turn. If you have a young dino fan in the family, they won’t be able to get enough. For dad, the augmented reality app that makes the dinos 3D is really cool, too.
7. You’ll Feel Good About It
The Calgary Zoo is a non-profit organization and proceeds of your visit go towards caring for the animals, enhancing the facility and supporting the zoo’s conservation efforts here in Alberta and around the world.
