Daily house-made pastries, baked artisanal bread and Italian coffee aromas — there’s something almost enchanting about entering an Alforno. Whether you’re on the search for a quick caffeine boost or meeting a loved one for a chat, Alforno’s welcoming atmosphere invites you to linger a while longer, and its chef-made bites may entice you to grab an unplanned treat. Soon, Calgarians in the West District will experience this in the heart of their community.
Located in the West District condominium complex, on 78 Street S.W. and across from Radio Park, Alforno’s latest destination will open to coffee lovers, café hoppers and pastry enthusiasts in March.

A space to gather
Alforno is part of Teatro Group, which has been bringing quality culinary experiences to Calgary for 33 years. The brand helps Calgarians connect with one another through good food and friendly service. Alforno’s new West District location continues that mission.
The thought and intention behind West District’s community design drew the coffee brand to the area. “We loved the vision of Radio Park, this beautiful park in the middle of a vibrant community,” says Mia Berloni, Teatro Group president and CEO. “We really saw this as an opportunity to be a community hub in the southwest of Calgary, and we’re really excited to bring our brand and our warm hospitality to the West District, and also provide an additional space for people to come and meet one another on the weekends, gather for coffee during the week, sit, work or catch up with friends and family.”
Alforno’s new space is larger than many of its other locations, inviting patrons to use its seating for a quick break. It will also serve as a place for community experiences, with plans to host informal events to gather families and friends, and opportunities to rent it out for private events, too. Plus, you can swing by with your pup — the café will have a dog-friendly patio.
A collaborative community hub
Alforno produces everything in-house, from its sandwiches, baked goods and all its syrups. Calgarians can look forward to a few exclusive food offerings at the West District location. Rooted in community values, the café will collaborate with neighbouring businesses, like Village ice cream, to create signature partner menu items.
A pause for connection
Alforno’s culture echoes the laid-back elegance of Italian café culture. It’s not uncommon for baristas to know your name and order after a couple of visits. Enter Alforno, and you’ll know you’re welcome here, to sip and savour, take rest, recharge and connect.
“We’re trying to create spaces for communities to come together. And we would love to be the place people come and meet every day over coffee, share memories, enjoy great food and be welcomed by our warm hospitality.”
