Back with beloved songs and a shared sense of purpose, the full-scale musical showcase CRESCENDO will return to Calgary this spring.

Featuring powerhouse vocalists backed by a choir, band and orchestra, CRESCENDO presents hits from artists including Benson Boone, Elton John, Earth, Wind & Fire and Fleetwood Mac in a spectacular show on March 21 at Werklund Centre Jack Singer Concert Hall.

“There is so much heart and talent on display at CRESCENDO,” says the show’s executive producer, John Cameron. “We’re bringing together some of the best talent in Alberta to cover arrangements of favourite songs like you’ve never heard them before.”

Now in its sixth year in Calgary, CRESCENDO has become an iconic event that invites audiences to engage with an important issue in a meaningful way.

Produced by The John Cameron Experience, CRESCENDO blends music and personal testimonies in support of youth mental health initiatives and research through the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“CRESCENDO is a musical term that means getting louder and louder, and that’s what CRESCENDO is all about — getting loud about mental health,” says Cameron.

Choir member Jonathan Bourque saw the show once and knew he had to become part of it. He remembers being in absolute awe of the performances.

“CRESCENDO is lively, upbeat, engaging and touching, all at the same time — it’s unexpected,” he says. “The amount of energy in the room, it’ll pierce you.”

By supporting youth mental health initiatives, CRESCENDO turns a fun night of music into something lasting: care, connection and hope for kids and families.

That’s something Bourque says makes the event stand out. “From watching as an audience member to performing in the choir, the experience has consistently left a resounding imprint on my heart,” he says. “It’s magnetic.”

“The choir, the orchestra, the solo performances, the storytelling and how they’re all so carefully woven together really captures the essence of the healing power of music,” says Bourque. “There’s a palpable energy in the room during and even after the performance, like an electricity in the air. It’s not just a concert; it truly is an immersive experience.”
