Starting February 1, the 17th Avenue Business Improvement Area is kicking off Calgary’s biggest singles event but with some new twists for 2023.
Our month-long event encourages Calgarians to “Get Off the Apps and Onto the Ave,” but this year, we’ve made some changes. While last year was a huge hit, this year, it’s not just for singles.
From pesky dating apps, social media, networking sites and streaming services, we’re all guilty of spending too much time on our devices – which is why from Feb. 1 to 28, our “Get Off the Apps and Onto the Ave” calendar of events will be focused less on the relationship status and more on making connections and reconnecting in-person. So, whether you’re single or single-ish, looking for an epic night out with your gal pals, or date ideas for your long-term boo, our month-long calendar of events has something for everyone because let’s be real, we could all use a break from the apps.
We are making it easy to connect in person again on 17th Ave at businesses like Element Café and MOVE, who are back for year two with beloved events such as trivia nights, speed dating (they’ve even made this age-specific!), singles spin and HIIT classes.
Need some date-night inspo or a night out with the girls? Tune into a drag brunch at 17th Ave hot spot Porch; a tequila tasting at Mexican favourite, Chilltos; Naughty Bingo at 17th Ave’s resident LGBTQ bar, Texas Lounge; a 90’s dance party at Irish spot, Jamesons, or live music and a cabaret show at Whiskey Rose Saloon! Plus, you can flex your creative muscles (and maybe meet someone new) at Passion For Glass or Paint Ur Art Out for a glass workshop or paint night! 17th Ave will even host several curated pub crawls with live entertainment at some of your go-to Red Mile spots and an outdoor retro dance party.
With events being added daily and tons of your favourite businesses hosting, there will be no shortage of things to do this February on 17th Ave. The calendar of events will run until Feb. 28, so be sure to follow along for new events, exclusive deals, discounts and more!
