If you’re looking for new ways to incorporate fresh produce into your meals, the Half Your Plate Chefs Dinner is the perfect experience for you. Now in its third year, and hosted by the Calgary Produce Marketing Association (PMA), this special event was created as a way to inspire everyone in the community to include fresh fruits and vegetables on their plates with every meal.
Throughout the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy produce-inspired dishes prepared by eight celebrated chefs from around Calgary.
The event will kick off with a welcome drink and an interactive appetizer reception, where you’ll get to watch the chefs prepare and plate small bites for your enjoyment — you might even get the chance to chat with your favourite chef about what inspired their dish.
After the welcome reception, you’ll be treated to a four-course plated meal, each course being prepared by a different chef. Dinner will be followed by dessert, and yes, it, too, will be produce-inspired, giving you an opportunity to try some of the gorgeous exotic fruits you may have come across in the grocery store but haven’t yet tried. (Fret not, there will also be chocolate!)
In addition, through the generosity of the event’s sponsors, you will be sent home with a swag bag full of ingredients that helped inspire the meal.
Where is it? The Half Your Plate Chefs Dinner is held at WinSport in the Markin Macphail Centre.
When is it? The event takes place on Friday, April 26, with the cocktail and appetizer reception starting at 6:00 pm.
How does it help? Proceeds from this event will support the Calgary PMA’s charity partners, which include Calgary Community Kitchen and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Who should attend? Anyone who loves great food!

The Calgary Produce Marketing Association is a non-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of professionals from across the produce industry. Association members include produce growers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers, as well as those focused on food service, transport, warehousing, packing and supply.
