If cat skiing has always been on your bucket list or you want a luxurious ski holiday while exploring some of the best terrain in B.C., Island Lake Lodge has you covered.
Where is the Lodge?
Located just fourteen kilometres from the town of Fernie, B.C., and 3.5 hours from Calgary, Island Lake Lodge sits on 7,000 acres of private land, which happens to be amazing ski terrain.
Island Lake started operations in 1988, and since then has gained a reputation as being one of the premier backcountry ski lodges in the world. Many of the ski and snowboard industries’ biggest names, including Scot Schmidt and Craig Kelly, have experienced the lodge and its terrain themselves and have played a part in sharing its world-renowned reputation.
Island Lake’s stunning ski terrain in the Lizard Range of the Rocky Mountains includes big alpine bowls, and perfectly gladed tree runs — all blanketed by a remarkable amount of snowfall. It averages around 45 feet of snow per winter season!
In addition to epic skiing, guests are pampered with high quality, unique and delicious culinary offerings, which Island Lake is known for. A full spa, comfortable lodges and a high level of guest service also round out the experience. Accommodation is provided in three beautiful log lodges with sublime mountain views.
