New Modern Billy by Anthem Townhomes Now Selling in Currie Barracks

Homebuyers can choose from two- and four-bedroom townhomes in this charming and historic neighbourhood.

The centrally located community of Currie Barracks has a long and storied past in Calgary, beginning with its origins as a Canadian Armed Forces Base. The townhome community is now moving into its latest exciting chapter — the second phase of Billy townhomes are nearly sold out with the third phase coming this May.

A premier living destination for new homebuyers

The Billy townhomes are the latest project by Anthem, expected to be completed in 2024/25. The 65 total planned homes in the area will feature two- to four-bedroom layouts that draw on modern farmhouse designs with Scandinavian accents such as clean lines, spacious windows and stylish fixtures throughout. Each three-storey townhome is designed to work for a range of homeowners, from young professionals to growing families and couples ready for retirement.

“Currie is becoming a premier choice for a diverse range of homebuyers,” says Jessica Sorrell, vice president of sales with Anthem Properties.

These townhomes boast double-car garages, oversized windows, gas stoves and two different colour palettes. The Dawn option presents a light and fresh array of colours, while Dusk features warmer and richer tones. The phase two homes start in the upper $600s with over 1,200 square feet of interior living space and come in three different floor plans, ensuring potential buyers can choose the perfect home.

“There’s a design that fits every lifestyle,” affirms Sorrell. “The homes are masterfully crafted to optimize flow and functionality, ensuring every square foot is a smart, usable space that anticipates future homeowners’ needs.”

A legendary inspiration

Billy by Anthem isn’t just located in a historic landmark, it also takes its name from a legend. William “Billy” Avery Bishop was among Canada’s most successful fighter pilots during the First World War. Bishop was also the first Canadian airman to win the Victoria Cross, a highly coveted award given for acts of bravery, self-sacrifice or extreme devotion to one’s duty in the presence of an enemy. Bishop was posthumously inducted into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame.

One of Calgary’s most coveted locations

Not only do the Billy townhomes offer the chance to live in Currie Barracks’ thriving and historic community, but they’re also conveniently located near many amenities. “We’re noticing a trend where seasoned parents and family members are guiding adult children toward their first home purchase with Currie’s appealing location being a significant factor in their decision,” says Sorrell.

Situated next door to Mount Royal University, Currie is within walking distance of the Marda Loop shopping and entertainment area, which offers access to many services as well as dining and shopping options. The downtown core is a short 10-minute drive away, and there’s quick access to the mountains for weekend getaways. The tight-knit community itself is welcoming and bustling with fellow residents who experience, contribute and enjoy Currie Barracks.

“To date, many of our homeowners have already established their lives in or near Currie or work at one of the many schools in the area, which speaks volumes about their fondness for the neighbourhood’s charm and convenience,” says Sorrell.
