Bow City Storage opened its (storage) doors in January 2021 with Siea Newton as the general manager. Newton was asked in 2020 by a local self-storage group to spearhead the then-brand-new Bow City Storage in Calgary’s beltline, to which she said “Yes!” right away even though she had not run a self-storage facility before. It didn’t take her long to understand that providing storage was about much more than relaying storage unit dimensions.
“I clearly remember one of our first customers who needed to store a large piece of showroom furniture that was coming in from overseas,” recalls Newton. “He was very stressed about where to store it until his showroom was ready. Once we showed him how we could move it in through our wide hallway and secure it in a unit, I could see the relief wash over him and a weight lift off his shoulders. From that moment, I knew running a storage facility was going to be as much about the people as the space.”
A new approach to storage
The Bow City Storage team understands that moving and storage can be stressful, so they try to make the storage experience as seamless as possible. Bow City Storage features four drive-in indoor loading bays, great lighting and a curated music playlist playing songs 24/7 throughout the facility. Newton adds that “once our customers come into our office, meet the team and walk through our facility, we can see them start to relax just a little bit and realize that our urban storage is clean, secure and operated by a professional team that cares.”
Bow City Storage offers storage units ranging from small closet-sized units to large commercially suitable units and can help you find the perfect storage unit for your valuables. Bow City Storage provides extra space for those who are downsizing, moving in together, renovating for a new baby and decluttering in preparation for a home sale, just to name a few.
“We essentially help anyone who needs some extra space, whether it is for your own personal items or a small business that outgrew the spare bedroom,” Newton says.
Marrying technology and human touch
Making the storage experience as convenient as possible means Bow City Storage has a full e-commerce website and the technology in place to provide each client with a smartphone app to access the facility and their unit 24/7. This investment in technology, together with a helpful local team means their clients feel comfortable and secure in using the facility.
“The technology at Bow City Storage provides convenience, and together with the human touch, we are able to take the stress out of storage and replace it with peace of mind,” Newton affirms.
