The Bridgeland Riverside Community Association has come up with a creative way to get Calgarians outdoors for some winter fun with the Bridgeland Arctic Adventure.
With the help of the City of Calgary and the Parks Foundation (the event was created with the Embrace the Outdoors grant that helps fund safe ways to enjoy winter), the community association created a 7.5 km adventure circuit running from February 12 to March 31. The idea behind the event is to “make your own adventure” with more than a dozen outdoor challenges and activities to choose from.
The adventure circuit features 13 stops spread across the Bridgeland community that feature activities like human curling, an icefield traverse, a snow beach and more. There are also prizes to be won by completing scavenger hunts and posting at least three pictures or videos at different locations on social media with the proper tags. On weekends, you can also check out Bridgeland Distillery‘s outdoor ice bar for some winter cocktails from 2 to 6 p.m. Participants are asked to follow the latest public health and pandemic regulations while taking part in the event.
