BUMP Mural Festival is one of Calgary’s biggest (quite literally) art festivals. Every year, BUMP beautifies the city, and has created more than 100 public murals in Calgary since its inception, including the world’s tallest painted mural. For BUMP 2023, 17 artists from across Canada will be creating 16 new murals, filling the city’s core with graffiti-inspired art, design and colour.
This year’s festival theme is Play, and will bring with it activities during the month of August. From August 5 to 26, Calgarians can check out the artists in action around the city and watch these giant works of art come to life in front of their eyes. Kick off the festival on August 5 with the Graffiti Jam from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at High Park, which will feature DJs, games, food and BUMP beer by Inner City Brewing. You can also visit the murals of the past and learn about the new ones on the BUMP walking tour, or hear from the artists themselves at the BUMP Artist Talk. You can even check out an outdoor showing of Dune, on the rooftop of High Park. The street art festival will conclude with an alley party at The Palomino. See all the BUMP 2023 events here.
This August, be on the lookout for the murals in this larger-than-life street art festival — they’ll be hard to miss.
