Calgary Gyms and Fitness Studios Offering Online Workouts

Many Calgary fitness studios are offering online classes for yoga, boxing and more to help you reach your fitness goals from home.

With Calgary fitness facilities closed to the public due to COVID-19, some studios have gotten creative with ways to help their members stay active. The following studios have turned their focus to online fitness content to help Calgarians keep fit from home.

Note: This list may change as Calgary’s COVID-19 situation evolves. We will do our best to keep it as up to date as possible and will continue to add more fitness options as we learn of them. The Academy

Type of workout: Yoga and strength

Online cost: Free

How it works: The Academy is keeping heart rates up with a workout of the day and live follow-along workouts on Instagram.

Ballet Bare Works

Type of workout: Barre

Online cost: One week free trial. Enjoy 50 per cent off your first month of online classes, then it’s $24.99 a month after that.

How it works: Ballet Barre Works is offering online classes with no equipment necessary. This online streaming service allows members to enjoy their favourite classes from home.

Barre Belle

Type of workout: Barre

Online cost: One week free trial. Monthly rate is $19.99 USD per month.

How it works: With Bellebod, an on-demand service created by Barre Belle, members can follow along to their usual barre class. There are 15, 30, 45 and 60 minute classes to fit everyone’s schedules.

Barre Body Studio

Type of workout: Barre

Online cost: One week free trial. Monthly rate is $19.99 USD per month.

How it works: Barre Body Studio is now offering online classes where participants can sweat at home with their favourite instructors. The workouts are available through the online website and offer both mat and barre-based classes.

Crush Camp

Type of workout: HIIT, yoga, strength and mobility

Online cost: Single drop-in $10, two week unlimited $50 and two week recurring $45

How it works: Join Crush Camp for live classes three times a day that can be booked through Mindbody. Crush Camp will offer workouts through a Zoom link that is emailed to enrolled participants an hour before class time.

F45

Type of workout: HIIT

Online cost: Membership required.

How it works: F45 members will get access to the same workouts they know and love but slightly modified to be done at home. By logging in online or to the F45 Training app with their studio credentials, members will be able to stay on track.

GoodLife Fitness

Type of workout: Various options.

Online cost: Membership required

How it works: In partnership with LesMills On-Demand, Goodlife is now offering more than 1,000 at-home workouts for its members. Members will gain access to all the content by logging in online or through the GoodLife app.

Junction 9

Type of workout: Yoga

Online cost: Free

How it works: Junction 9 is now offering online classes for anyone who wants to add some yoga to their daily routine. They will be uploading videos to both Vimeo and Instagram live

Movement U

Type of workout: HITT, yoga, spin and row

Online cost: $14 monthly for access to one type of workout or $19 monthly for access to all four types of workouts.

How it works: This studio’s MU Virtual program offers online classes for spin, rowing, HITT and yoga. Snag a monthly pass for your favourite or mix it up with a pass that lets you try all four.

Passage Studios

Type of workout: Yoga and meditation

Online cost: Free

How it works: Yoga practices and meditation workshops will be held on Passage Studio’s Instagram account. Live videos will be available on the page for 24 hours after the initial posting.

The Ritual

Type of workout: Yoga, strength and meditation

Online cost: Free

How it works: The Ritual is offering unlimited access to 40 different fitness classes through a new online subscription service. Classes are compatible with smartphones, tablets, laptops and television.

The Sweat Lab

Type of workout: Yoga, spin, core/pilates, circuit and barre

Online cost: $51.45 monthly

How it works: The Sweat Lab’s SweatNow program offers classes through an online portal as well as weekly live classes that members can access through the SweatNow Instagram account.

Sweat Science

Type of workout: Boxing

Online cost: Free

How it works: You can find a library of boxing and conditioning workouts by signing into Mindbody with a Sweat Science account. There is no purchase necessary and dumbbells and a heavy bag will be useful but not required.

Undrcard Boxing Studio

Type of workout: Boxing

Online cost: Single drop-in $5.25

How it works: Follow along with Undrcard’s online group boxing classes using its new streaming service, which lets participants turn on their cameras so they can see each other workout and create an interactive experience. Sign up on the studio’s website with MindBody.

Yoga Nova Studio

Type of workout: Yoga

Online cost: First class is free, $25 for a monthly membership.

How it works: Yoga Nova offers daily virtual yoga classes featuring power yoga, kids yoga, slow flow, meditation and more through MindBody.

Yoga Santosha

Type of workout: Yoga

Online cost: Single drop-in $12, five class pass $55 or 10 class pass $100

How it works: Yoga Santosha is offering virtual yoga classes using the streaming service Zoom. Yogis only need a mat and a computer with a camera to get in their daily practice. The schedule is available on Yoga Santosha’s website or through the MindBody app.

Yoga Shala

Type of workout: Yoga

Online cost: $12 for a drop-in online class. You can also get monthly passes, which are $49 for the first month, then $110 monthly after that.

How it works: Yoga Shala offers several online yoga classes per day, which you can sign up for through MindBody.
