Celebrate Earth Day at the Rothney Observatory

While many of us have “green” on the brain with spring on its way and today, April 22, being Earth day, there is another part of our world that deserves a bit of attention.

The University of Calgary’s Rothney Astrophysical Observatory will host its first public observing night of 2013, tonight at 8:30 p.m.

The observatory is home to one of the three largest (1.8 m diameter) telescopes in Canada.

Dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Admission is by donation. Check website for weather and sky conditions before leaving.

Public observatory nights

April 22 – 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

May 2 – 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

September 19 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

October 3 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

November 28 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

December 5 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
