Not My First Rodeo: Jade Davis

Tips from longtime Calgarians who have been going to the Stampede since they were kids.

Name: Jade Davis

Occupation: Model, The Nobles Management.

I’ve lived in Calgary since: Birth. There aren’t many of us!

I’ve been going to the Stampede since: I was three (see photo).

My favourite Stampede memory is: Walking the midway with my boyfriend (now husband).

These days, my typical Stampede includes: Hanging out with my husband and our two young boys (three years old and 18 months old) in the Kids’ Zone.

My favourite Stampede attraction is: A tie – I’m stuck between the various musical acts that are brought in, and the Chuckwagon races! The energy in the stands is unreal.

My favourite Stampede food is: The mini donuts of course! Lining up for this yummy treat is the first thing I do when I hit the grounds.

My favourite Stampede outfit is: Always evolving, but one thing that remains the same is that I always wear my beautiful turquoise rings. They were my Grandma Shirley’s and are very sentimental to me.

Three things I recommend doing at the Stampede are: Attending the rodeo (it’s a must), enjoying the midway at night, and partying at the various cowboy bars until the wee hours!

One thing you should definitely avoid is: Burning the candle at both ends!

Last words of advice: Don’t be afraid to really dress western! It’ll get you into the spirit and shows your support for our city.

The Calgary Stampede runs July 3 to 12, 2015. For information visit calgarystampede.com; follow on Twitter @calgarystampede
