Cue the Grease soundtrack, because “Summer Nights” in Calgary are on the horizon. And what better way to celebrate the warmer weather and longer stretches of sunlight than by shopping locally at one of the city’s many night markets?

“Tell me more, tell me more.”

Featuring live music, entertainment, food trucks and a variety of vendors selling locally made goods, Calgary’s night markets have become a staple of our summer season. Here are five to check out.

University District (U/D) Night Market

Dates: May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31 and September 28, running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Operating in partnership with Marketspot, the U/D Night Market takes place on the last Wednesday of every month, starting in May and ending in September. Stop by to check out participating vendors selling handcrafted soaps, candles, chocolates, clothing and much more. The market will also showcase live music and entertainment.

Marda Loop Night Market

Dates: June 24 and September 2, hours TBD.

Making its debut this year, the never-been-done-before Marda Loop Night Market is brought to Calgary by the same team behind the Inglewood Night Market and the 4th Street Night Market. While participating vendors are yet to be announced, this new addition will give Calgarians another chance to shop locally for a variety of one-of-a-kind and vintage goods. The market will also feature live music and food trucks, of course.
