5 Things to Do on the Last Weekend of the 2023 Calgary Stampede

From drag brunches to touring this year’s Dream Home, there are still plenty of things to do on the Calgary Stampede grounds during the last weekend of the 2023 festival.

If you’ve ever wondered why there is a huge house on the Stampede grounds, this is the year to find out. Every year, festival attendees can get a peek inside the Stampede Lotteries Rotary Dream Home, which you can buy tickets to potentially win or just tour for some design inspo. This year’s home features four bedrooms and three bathrooms spread across 2,537 square feet, and has fun touches like a pet food station in the kitchen, a three-season sun room and a herb cultivator.

See a concert on the Coca-Cola Stage

Your Stampede admission gets you free access to the many concerts taking place on the Coca-Cola Stage, so be sure to take advantage and catch one of the last shows this weekend. Headliners include Mt. Joy on July 14, Zeds Dead on July 15 and Mother Mother on July 16.

Bar Nineteen Twelve is a bit of a hidden gem tucked away inside The Big Four Roadhouse. If you’re looking for something more elevated than the typical midway fare, pop into this sleek and sophisticated bar for a cocktail and bites like gnocco fritto or blackened AAA Alberta beef short rib.

Cheer on your favourite drag queens at a drag brunch

This weekend is your chance to see some of your favourite drag queens perform live at two different Stampede tents. On July 15, RuPaul’s Drag Race stars like Alyssa Edwards, Gigi Goode and Symone will be performing at Cowboys Music Festival’s drag brunch. You can also still get tickets to see Scarlett Bobo, Miss Fiercalicious, Toddy and more at Nashville North‘s second annual Stampede drag brunch on July 16.

Check out art in the Western Oasis with a glass of wine

When you need a break from the sun (or rain), pop into the Western Oasis to see a variety of artwork by both local and international artists. Order a glass of wine from the Wine Garden, then make your way from booth to booth where many of the artists will be on hand to speak about their work.
