A variety hour crossed with a late-night talk show, Venus: Future Love is part of the fifth season of TD Amplify Cabarets, which showcases local talent who are part of the Arts Commons TD Incubator program in a fun and engaging cabaret format, all spun with a retro-futuristic space theme this season.
Hosted by Calgary performers Sargeant x Comrade, each show in the TD Amplify Cabaret series features local artists through interviews, conversation and performances. For February’s Venus: Future Love, rapper and videographer Gbohunmi, pop-synth trio Lost Decade and poets Bubba B the MC and aloT of Poetry will take to the stage for an evening of art and conversation themed around love, beauty, pleasure and Black experiences. Visual projections by Mackenzie Bedford round out this multidisciplinary show.
Before and after each show, meet the artists in the lobby and jam to music from Catfishthewizard or DJ Jadé.
Venus: Future Love runs on February 10 and 11 at 8 p.m., with tickets starting at $17.50. Be sure to keep your eye out for the rest of this series, which includes Earth: Mothership in April and Moon: Indigo Child in June.
