It doesn’t matter if you’re a child, a senior or you fall somewhere in between – for many people, root beer floats are a beloved, nostalgia-inducing treat.

Made using a few scoops of ice cream and some root beer, floats are easy enough to make at home. But you can also try this old favourite at Flipp’n Burgers‘ second location in Mission, which opened in 2016. The eatery adds a local touch to this simple yet tasty drink by using the flagship soda (root beer) of Canmore-based Grizzly Paw Brewing Company. The restaurant’s retro decor, which features photos of the city and Calgarians from 1950s, makes it the perfect spot to slurp back one of these old-fashioned drinks ($7).

If you want to journey down memory lane even further, both Flipp’n Burgers locations also offer old-fashioned milkshakes. Milkshake flavours at the Mission location include chocolate, strawberry, creamsicle, blue bubblegum and vanilla.
