When it comes to dining out in February, we’re all about carbs and hot drinks to get us through winter and sharing plates with a special Valentine. Here are five dishes we’re excited to try this month.
Malasadas from Eats of Asia
We’re ready to ditch our New Year’s resolutions for a day and go to Crossroads Market for these doughnuts at Eats of Asia. They’re just $2, but they run out quickly so go early. The flavours are always changing and unique fillings have included ube (purple yam) and lilikoi (a kind of passionfruit).

Black Gold Hot Chocolate from Light Cellar
YYC Hot Chocolate Fest runs until February 28 and this one is just too pretty to pass up. Light Cellar’s creation is made with cacao butter, tumeric extract and activated charcoal (which has detoxifying health benefits).

Coffee and Super Milk Soft Serve from Lukes Drug Mart
If you couldn’t get enough of the charcoal soft serve at Lukes, a new coffee flavour just launched. It’s made with milk from D Dutchmen Dairy, a popular dairy farm and roadside attraction located in Sicamous, B.C.

Spaghetti and Meatballs from Prohibition Freehouse
Make like Lady and the Tramp on Valentine’s Day and share some good, old fashioned spaghetti and meat balls. Prohibition Freehouse lets you build your own with your choice of meat, noodles and sauce. Pork meatballs, spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce is a comforting classic.

Broccoli Fritti from Run Pig Run
Eating broccoli is way more appealing when it’s covered in Grana Padano parmesan cheese and jalapeo mayo. We may never eat steamed broccoli again.
