Alberta Athletes Competing at the Tokyo Summer Paralympics

Local athletes will compete in sports like goalball, rowing, wheelchair basketball and more from August 24 to September 5, 2021.

Earlier this summer, people from around the world tuned in as thousands of athletes (including 26 Calgary athletes) competed at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Now, it’s time for the Tokyo Summer Paralympics, which run from August 24 to September 5, 2021. Team Canada is sending 128 athletes (including guides) to compete this year, which includes nearly two dozen athletes with Alberta connections. There are 22 sports played at the Paralympic Games, and you can see the full competition schedule here.

Here’s a look at the athletes with an Alberta connection that you may see at this year’s Paralympic Games.
