It’s in the name, so, unsurprisingly, one of North Glenmore Park’s top features is the community’s proximity to the Glenmore Reservoir, surrounded by parkland and nearby attractions like Heritage Park. The walkways around the reservoir make the community ideal for folks who enjoy outdoor activities like cycling, running and birdwatching. A stroll through the community shows everyone from young families to seniors getting outside and taking advantage of the fun in the park.
The North Glenmore Park Community Association hosts a range of events and activities designed to bring residents together, including children’s art lessons, seniors’ exercise classes and yoga classes. Community members can take advantage of programs such as dragon boating at the Calgary Canoe Club and swimming at the Glenmore Pool.
About a 10-minute drive to both Mount Royal University and Rockyview General Hospital, North Glenmore Park is ideally situated. Some of the schools in the area include St. James School and the Calgary Girls Charter School, with more nearby. North Glenmore Park is home to the Earl Grey Golf Club and the Aforza Tennis Club, featuring Chef’s N Farmer’s, a hidden gem of a restaurant. Some residents say its burger is among the best in the city. —S.C.
Opportunity for Improvement
While the two main roads bordering North Glenmore Park, Crowchild Trail and Glenmore Trail, offer access to nearby amenities including CF Chinook Centre and downtown, they can also make getting in and out of the neighbourhood a challenge. Traffic gets especially congested at the beginning and end of the school day.
Highlights
Park amenities

Nature is a stone’s throw from your backyard at beautiful North Glenmore Park. The park itself is at the southernmost edge of the community, with easy access to the Glenmore Reservoir and Weaselhead Flats. The park’s amenities include an inclusive playground with a zipline and, in the winter, a 730-metre ice skating trail, a rink for crokicurl (a mix of curling and crokinole) and even all-terrain wheelchair rentals.
Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival

Every August, the Calgary Dragon Boat Society takes over North Glenmore Park with an exciting team race. Launching in the Glenmore Reservoir, boat teams of 15 to 25 paddlers race in long, decorative boats fitted with drums, celebrating millenia-old Chinese traditions. Teams paddle to the beat of the drum, working in harmony to snatch the fastest race time. The free-to-attend weekend features an artisan market, food vendors, beer gardens and, of course, exhilarating races.
Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus
Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus has been serving authentic Dutch pancakes since 1997. Known as pannenkoek, these are not your average North American pancakes, but delicious, layered crepes with savoury toppings cooked right into the batter. The small, family-owned restaurant uses techniques unique to Holland to make more than 45 different flavour combinations, with new varieties added to the menu each month. Find this local spot on the west side of North Glenmore Park. Park off Crowchild Trail.
Lakeview Golf Course

Find your next golf round at Lakeview Golf Course, a beautiful, nine-hole course that overlooks the Glenmore Reservoir. This walkable course is beginner friendly, offering a mix of three- and four-par holes. Perfect your short game near the greens or practise your drive through the tree-lined fairways at this urban oasis. —R.P.
