Calgary’s Best Neighbourhoods 2026

Every year, Avenue puts out a list of some of the city’s best neighbourhoods, and it’s just as interesting and informative as it is controversial. Calgarians are passionate about what makes a great community, and we agree that it’s challenging to whittle it down to just a few. After all, Calgary boasts 206 communities, each with its own highlights and quirky charms.

This year, we leaned heavily on the Calgary Equity Index, a public, data-driven tool that compares various indicators such as education, income, home-ownership percentage, employment rate, age and cultural diversity across neighbourhoods. We chose the 2026 Best Neighbourhoods list from the communities that scored highest across those factors that influence the best places for families and seniors, and that contribute to safety, a sense of belonging and more.
