In a year marked by adversity, Avenue‘s second annual Made in Alberta Awards presented in association with Oxford Properties (Southcentre Mall and Kingsway Mall) cast a spotlight on the many incredible products being made in this province and the importance of supporting local businesses.
After revealing the 2020 Made in Alberta Awards winners and runners-up in August, the Made in Alberta team hosted a conference for Alberta businesses, makers and producers. Due to COVID-19, this year’s conference was offered online and featured a dozen digital talks and panel sessions over six days. Attendees learned about scaling their food business, received tips on wholesale pricing, heard about the importance of great product packaging and more from local experts.
Albertans also shopped at two Made in Alberta weekend pop-up markets at Calgary’s Southcentre Mall in September and Edmonton’s Kingsway Mall in October. The two markets featured the incredible products of nearly two dozen different Made in Alberta winners and runners-up between them.
Special thanks to our sponsors who helped make this year’s awards, conference and events a success: Oxford Properties (Southcentre Mall and Kingsway Mall), SAIT, Calgary Economic Development, the Trade Accelerator Program and EDify magazine.
