Shovik Sengupta claims that his success can be attributed to his ability to surround himself with creative and hardworking people, but the personable restaurateur’s other secret weapon is the way he creates enthusiasm and a sense of warmth. Sengupta has a stake in both Native Tongues Taqueria and Lil’ Empire Burger, but there’s a special place in his heart for his Calcutta Cricket Club, which celebrates both Sengupta’s family background and his love of fun and modern restaurant spaces that are as much about atmosphere as they are about delicious food.

“We put as much weight behind the space because we wanted to create an experience,” Sengupta says. “We wanted to create really cool rooms where the design and the music and the vibe tie together, with great food on top of all of that.”
