Meet the Finalists of the First Made in Alberta Awards

The first annual Made in Alberta Awards finalists have been announced. Plus, cast your vote for the Readers’ Choice award.

Albertans love supporting local makers and purchasing products that have been created and crafted close to home. But, it’s not always easy to find the best items available. From hyper-local spirits to handcrafted razors to innovative camping equipment, there’s no shortage of unique products that exemplify Alberta’s entrepreneurial spirit.

That’s why we started the Made in Alberta Awards, to celebrate the province’s best local products. For our inaugural awards, we were overwhelmed by the quality of entries from across the province in all seven categories. Once the Made in Alberta editors narrowed down the entries to create a shortlist, a team of judges who are experts in their respective fields chose 10 to 12 finalists for each category.

The overall winner, category winners and runners-up will be revealed in the September issues of Avenue Calgary and Avenue Edmonton. But before we announce the winners, we are looking to our readers to vote on their favourite product for the Readers’ Choice award.

Visit the Made in Alberta Awards site to see the finalists and vote for your favourite item. Bonus: one lucky voter will be randomly selected to win a prize package of products from some of our finalists.
