One of the latest additions to Calgary’s dining scene, Olea brings a new take on Mediterranean- and Western European-inspired fare to the Beltline.

Olea is the latest offering from the team behind Sensei Bar, which is located right beside it. The 50-seat dining room, designed by FRANK Architecture, has a warm and inviting vibe that guests can enjoy while peeking into the bustling open kitchen.

The menu is a mix of approachable and hearty dishes that are great for sharing. Start your meal off with a selection of pinchos and appetizers, which include highlights like the speck ham croquetas, calamari with a Calabrian chili crema and spot prawn risotto. Then, tuck into the sizeable mains that include a selection of pizzas, pastas like lobster radiatori or squash rigatoni, and dishes like lamb porterhouse and chicken milanese.

Drink-wise, Olea offers a selection of wine and beers, but the cocktails are a particular highlight, with creative options like the Upstream Smash that features gin, yellow chartreuse, elderflower, melon liqueur, lime and cardamom syrup.

To finish things off, don’t leave without trying one of the three desserts: bananas Foster bread pudding, Basque cheesecake or chocolate pots de creme.
