Now in its third year, YYC Ice Cream Fest (formerly YYC Summer Scoop Fest) is back and better than ever with its food festival focused around the popular summer treat.
Running from July 19 to August 5, the festival invites anyone with a sweet tooth to try featured ice cream creations at more than 30 participating cafés, restaurants and ice cream shops. This year’s ice cream treats come in many forms. There are ice cream flavours like Firebox (wild cherry ice cream with chipotle chili powder seasoning) from Harvey’s Confectionery at Heritage Park, a brown butter and espresso gelato available at Noto Gelato and rose saffron swirl ice cream at Tajrish Market + Bistro. You can also opt for creative creations like ice cream baklava at Apprentice, an espresso martini affogato from Veranda at the Stables or a PB & J with chocolate ganache ice cream pie from Pie Junkie.
Each time a featured treat is sold, $1 to $3 will go towards supporting Calgary Meals on Wheels. Once you’ve tried a few, be sure to rate the ice creams online, as the eateries will be battling it out for three titles: YYC’s Best Scoop, the Golden Scoop Award and Best Non-Dairy Scoop.
