It can be hard to not be with loved ones as many celebrations come and go while everyone is in isolation. While sending a card can help, there aren’t many out there that capture the current situation.
Keli Pollock, a local potter and art director, has remedied this problem by creating social distancing-themed greeting cards. Pollock was inspired to create the cards after celebrating her own birthday in isolation and having to find new ways to stay connected to friends and family.
The $7 cards feature sayings and images that centre around social distancing but aim to bring happiness to those who receive them. There’s a birthday card featuring an image of hand washing, one for Mother’s Day and even one for recent graduates who might not have a ceremony to attend.
You can also purchase $3 postcards in support of a good cause. There’s the “Together” postcard, which supports the food bank by donating 25 per cent of the net proceeds, and the “Open Hearts” postcard, whose entire net proceeds support local homeless shelters.
Pollock will be selling the cards at Bridgeland Market on Mother’s Day weekend, or you can snag one online at sociallydistant.ca.
